At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamb
in the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on June 23, 1970, Mayor Cherry
presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commission-
ers Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Mayor Cherry offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Fisher, that the reading
of the Minutes for June 9, 1970 be waived and that the Minutes for said meeting pre-
pared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Mayor Cherry made the following appointments: Subject to the approval o f the
Board of Commissioners, I hereby appoint the following as members of the Civic
Beautification Board for terms expiring July 5, 1971.

Commissioner Harvey offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Fisher, that the
Board of Commissioners approve the action of Mayor Robert C. Cherry appointing
members of the Civic Beautification Board for terms expiring July 5, 1970. Adopted
on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor
Cherry (5) .
Commissioner Fisher offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Harvey, that the
Certificate of Insurance issued by Reliance Insurance Company to E. J. Roper for a
period of one year from June 16, 1970, be received, approved and filed. Adopted on
call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor
Cherry (5) .
Commissioner Fisher offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Harvey, that the
ise
bid of Belmont Equipment Company, Inc. dated June 5, 1970, for the sale to the City
of two (2) Cushman Refuse Vehicles for use in the Refuse Department, be received and
filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby,
Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Fisher offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Harvey, as follows;
I move that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute a Tax Equivalent
Agreement and Release between the City of Paducah, Kentucky, and the Electric Plant
Board of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, agreeing to accept the total sum of $79,255.79
for all unpaid in -lieu -of Tax payments pursuant to KRS 96.820 as amended in 1970 and ii

settlement of all claims arising out of the two law suits still pending and to be
dismissed, styled as THE ELECTRIC PLANT BOARD OF THE CITY OF GLASGOW, KENTUCKY, et al
vs. BARREN COUNTY, KENTUCKY, et al, Civil Action No. 5196, pending in the Barren
Circuit Court; and, CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, et al vs. ELECTRIC PLANT BOARD OF THE
CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, Civil Action No. 9185, in the McCracken Circuit Court, said
Tax Equivalent Agreement and Release to be on behalf of the City of Paducah only with
direct payments for any and all taxes due the Paducah Board of Education and the
Paducah Community College, whose taxes are normally collected by the City, to be paid
directly to such parties. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher,
Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Harvey offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Fisher, that upon
recommendation of the City Manager, the following personnel changes be made:
1. Joe Louis Henderson be employed as a temporary laborer in the Refuse Division
of the Public Works Department, at a salary of $2.00 per hour, retroactive
to June 17, 1970.
2. Alfred Anderson, temporary laborer in the Refuse Division of the Public Works
Departm ent, be terminated, retroactive to June 5, 1970
3. The following persons be employed in the Refuse Division of the Public Works
Department, as seasonal laborers, at a salary of $2.00 per hour, retroactive
to June 18, 1970:

Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the
letter from Chief Paduke Post No. 31 American Legion of Kentucky, offering assistance
in placing and removing the flags along Jefferson Street, be received and filed.
Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear
and Mayor Cherry (5) .
Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the
letter dated June 9, 1970, from Mr. Ralph C. Pickard, Director, Division of Environ-
mental Health, addressed to Mr. John W. Hornsby, regarding operation of the swimming
1 in Noble Park, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that a
copy of the letter from James A. Traylor pertaining to a sewer tap -on for his residencep
at 1216 Lone Oak Road be received and filed, and I further move that the offer conta
in said letter be accepted, and that the City issue a sewer tap -on permit upon receipt
of payment in the sum of $750.00. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).

Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the
Board of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to Oneda Clark of one
grave space, being 5 x 10 feet, located at the northwest corner of Lot No. 427, in
Section 29 of Oak Grove Cemetery for the sum of $100.00, and that the City Clerk be
authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Adopted on call
of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the
executed copy of the contract between the City of Paducah and Wilson Chevrolet Cadillac
Company, Inc. for sale to the City of a 1970 Chevrolet Brookwood Station Wagon for use
in the Inspection Department, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll,
Yeas, Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the
k executed copy of the Contract between the City of Paducah and Allan Rhodes, Inc. for
sale to the City of a 1970 Ford Bronco for use in.the Floodwall Department, be received
and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby,
Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5) .
Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the
Board of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to Emmett M. and Geneva
M. Knight of the southeast quarter of Lot No. 9 in Section 3 of the Mausoleum Addition
to Oak Grove Cemetery for the sum of $350.00, and that the -City Clerk be authorized
to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery property. Adopted on call of the
Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and. Mayor Cherry (5).
Mayor Cherry offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the Certifica-

CONTRACT FOR SUCH -PURCHASE", be introduced and remain on file for at least one (1)
week for public inspection in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its

FIRE REPORTING TELEPHONE SYSTEM,, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON
