At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, held on Tuesday, January 6, 2004,
at 5:00 p.m., Mayor Paxton presided, and upon call of the J;@11 by the City Manager, the
following answered to their names: Commissioners Coleman, Guess, Montgomery,
Smith and Mayor Paxton (5).
CITY/COUNTY UNITED WAY FUNDRAISER
Janet Dicke reported that the date set for the Donkey Basketball Fundraiser is January 16,
2004. The players will include city and county staff.
WORKSHOP:
MARKETING PLAN FOR COLUMBIA & ARCADE THEATRES
Tom Barnett, Planning Director, handed out a proposed marketing strategy plan for the
Columbia and Arcade Theatres. A copy is in the minute file. The Board agreed by
consensus to proceed with the proposed plan. The following were selected by the Board
to be the ad hoc committee referred to in the plan, Commissioner Guess, Tom Barnett,
Carol Gault, Mary Hammond and Danny James.
FIRE STAFF ROTATION — DISCUSSION WITH FIRE CHIEF BENTON
After much discussion, the Board agreed to uphold the policy set by the Fire Chief and
the rotation schedule will remain in place.
CITY MANAGER REPORT
❖ Calendar Items
The City Manager requested an executive session for economic development and
collective bargaining.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Commissioner Guess offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Coleman, that the
Board go into closed session for discussion of matters pertaining to the following topics:
`� ❖ Collective bargaining with public employees, as permitted by KRS 61.810(1)(e).
❖ A specific proposal by a business entity where public discussion of the subject
matter would jeopardize the location, retention, expansion or upgrading of a
business entity, as permitted by KRS 61.810(1)(g).
Adopted on call of the roll, yeas, Commissioners Coleman, Guess, Montgomery, Smith
and Mayor Paxton (5).
Upon motion the meeting adjourned.
