At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber
in the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on -March 10, 1970, Mayor:Cherry
presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: �Commissionerl
Harvey, Fisher, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Mayor'Cherry offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Fisher, that the reading of
the Minutes for February 24, 1970 be waived and that the -Minutes -of said meeting
prepared by the'City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll_, Yeas.

Commissioner Fisher offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Harvey, as follows:
WHEREAS, Robert Jones was employed as a temporary laborer in the Street Division
of the Public Works Department on July 1, 1969, and
WHEREAS, on recommendation of the City Manager, this Board on February 24, 1970
approved a motion placing said Robert Jones under civil service effective March 1,
1970, and
WHEREAS, it appears that said civil service appointment was in error, unlawful and
void because the appointee was not a resident of the City of Paducah as required by
YRS 90.330 (2) , and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners wishes to correct its action
NOW THEREFORE, I move that the employment of Robert Jones with the City of Paducah
be terminated immediately on the adoption of this motion and that he be forthwith paid
for any accrued salary or benefits. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear (4), Mayor Cherry voted "No".
Commissioner Fisher offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Harvey, as follows:
I move that the Board of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to
Margaret Baker of graves Nos. 11 and 12 in Lot 295, Section 19 in Oak Grove Cemetery
for the sum of $200.00. I further move that the City Clerk be authorized to execute
a deed of conveyance to said cemetery graves. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Fisher offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Harvey, that the
letter of proposal from G and R Properties, Inc. in connection with the construction
of a sewer on property owned by them on the north side of South Beltline Highway,
be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher,
rvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Fisher offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Harvey, that the
Board of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to William DePriest
Watkins of the northeast corner of Lot No. 330 in Block No. 6 of the Rushing Addition
to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of
conveyance to said cemetery grave. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).

Commissioner Harvey offered motion, seconded by Commissioner'Fisher, that upon
the recommendation of the City Manager the following personnel changes be made:
1. Mose Wilson be employed as a temporary laborer in the Refuse'Division of the Public
Works Department, at a salary of $2.00 per hour, retroactive to February 25,. 1970.
2. James Randall Tapp be employed as a temporary pump operator in the Floodwall Depart-
ment, at a salary of $2.00 per hour, effective March 10, 1970.
3. The resignation of C. C.'Crain, Housing'Code Officer -in the Inspection Department,
be accepted, effective March 15, 1970.

Commissioner Harvey offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Fisher, that the
Certificate of Insurance issued by Maryland Casualty Company to the City of Paducah,
covering work done by West Kentucky Paving Company for a period of one year from March
16, 1970, be received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Harvey offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Fisher, that the
Certificate of Insurance issued by National Surety Corporation to the City of Paducah,
covering work done by Eison Construction Company, Inc. for a period expiring January 1,
1971, be received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Fisher, Harvey, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Harvey offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Fisher, that the
report of the Paducah Planning Commission denying the application of George Bailey and
others to rezone property at the intersection of 23rd Street and South Beltline, which
application was heard by the Paducah Planning Commission on March 4, 1970, be received,
approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fisher, Harvey,
Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (5).
CommissionerHornbby�offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the
claim of Don Higgins in the amount of $72.70 for damage to his windshield caused by
rocks dropping from a city truck driven by Rubel Tucker on the Old Mayfield Road on
February 24, 1970, be allowed, and that the City Treasurer be authorized to pay
same after first obtaining a complete and final release. Adopted on call of the Roll,
