At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission
Chamber in the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7: 30 p.m., on June 10, 1975 , Mayor McNutt
presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners
Brumley,, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) .
Mayor McNutt offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the
reading of the Minutes for May 13, 20 and June 3, 1975 be waived and that the Minutes of said
meetings prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll,
Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) .
Commissioner Brumley offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Coleman, that
the Bond of Gregory & Grief Construction Company in the amount of $1, 000. 00, dated June 26, 1974,
be received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley,
Coleman, Hornsby , Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) .
Commissioner Coleman offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Brumley, that
upon recommendation of the City Manager the following personnel changes be made:
1. The following be temporarily employed in the Cemetery Department:
Keith Collins as temporary laborer at a salary of $2.10 per hour, retroactive
to June 5, 1975
Bill Blair as temporary truck driver at a salary of $2.25 per hour, retroactive
to May 27, 1975
2. The following part-time recreation leaders in the Parks and Recreation
Department be terminated:
Robert Jeffery Hines, retroactive to June 9, 1975
Laura Gaile Seelye, effective June 10, 1975
3. The following be temporarily employed in the Parks and Recreation Department:
Brad Dennis as temporary laborer at a salary of $2.10 per hour, retroactive
to June 4, 1975
Charles Shannon as part-time recreation leader at a salary of $30.00 per week,
retroactive to June 9, 1975
Cathy Shemwell as lifeguard at a salary of $1.75 per hour, retroactive to
June 5, 1975
4. The following be employed as temporary truck drivers in the Street Department,
at a salary of $2.25 per hour:
Craig Clymer, retroactive to June 2.. 1975
Charles Hobbs, retroactive to June 3, 1975
5. Kenneth Keith Smith, collector in the Refuse Department,, be terminated,
retroactive to June 6, 1975
6. Shelby Cave be employed as temporary clerk in the Finance Office at a salary
of $2. 10 per hour, retroactive to June 9 , 197 5.
7. The resignation of Ronald Travis, Class A Operator in the Street Department,
be accepted, retroactive to May 27, 1975
8. The following be employed in the Street Department, retroactive to June 9, 1975:
Anthony Herndon as laborer, at a salary of $3.23 per hour
William Meredith as street repairman, at a salsty of $3.56 per hour
Gerald Watkins as sewer maintenance man, at a salary of $3.66 per hour
9. Billy Copeland, truck driver in the Street Department, be promoted to the position
of concrete finisher in said department, at a salary of $3.96 per hour, retroactive l
to June 9, 1975

10. Jimmy D. Mills, Class A Mechanic in the Street Department be reclassified
as sewer maintenance man in said department, at a salary of $3.66 per hour,
retroactive to June 9, 1975
11 Rhodney Darnell, Class B Mechanic in the Refuse Department, be promoted to
the position of Class A Mechanic in the Street Department, at a salary of $3.96 per
hour. retroactive to June 9, 1975
12. James C. Golden, street repairman in the Street Department, be promoted to the
position of Class B Mechanic in the Refuse Department at a salary of $3.76 per
hour,, retroactive to June 9, 1975
13. Teresa Alexander, ticket seller in the Parks and Recreation Department, be
reclassified as temporary stenographer, at a salary of $2.25 per hour, retroactive
to June 9, 1975.
14. Melissa Alexander, concession stand attendant in the Parks and Recreation Department
be reclassified as lifeguard, at a salary of $1.75 per hour, retroactive to May 24, 1975
15. The following changes in salaries for lifeguards in the Parks and Recreation
Department, be made, retroactive to May 24, 1975:
Janet Dodson, from $2.05 per hour to $2.25 per hour.
Curtis Hull, from $1.75 per hour to $1.95 per hour
Barbara Baker, from $1.95 per hour to $2.15 per hour
Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and
Mayor McNutt (5) .
Commissioner Coleman offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Brumley, that
the following bids for construction of classroom and demonstration buildings for use by the
Paducah Fire Department, be received and filed:
Ray Black & Son, Inc.
B. H. Green & Son
Harper & Arterburn , Inc.
Gene Grief & Sons, Inc.
Wilkins Construction Company, Inc.
Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and
Mayor McNutt (5) .
Commissioner Hornsby offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that
the claim of Sam Dodson, Jr. in the amount of $64.34 be approved, and that the City Treasurer
be authorized to pay said claim after first obtaining a full and complete release. Adopted on
call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) .
Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that
a copy of the Resolution adopted by the Electric Plant Board on May 28, 1975, pertaining to the
Schedule of Rates and Charges, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) .
Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the
executed copy of the Agreement between the City of Paducah and Gresham & Kerr, John Keeling
Associates, dated June 4th, 1975, for architectural services in connection with the Townlift
Project, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas , Commissioners Brumley,
Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) .

Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that
an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF RAY BLACK & SON, INC. FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF CLASSROOM AND DEMONSTRATION BUILDINGS FOR USE BY THE PADUCAH
FIRE DEPARTMENT, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR SUCH
CONSTRUCTION", be introduced and remain on file for one week for public inspection in the
completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage. Adopted on call of the Roll,
Yeas, Commissioners Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (4) , Commissioner Brumley
voted "No" .
Mayor McNutt offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that an
ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF JIMAR PAVING COMPANY, INC. FOR
RESURFACING VARIOUS STREETS IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH , KENTUCKY, AND AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR SUCH RESURFACING", which was tabled by
the Board of Commissioners on May 13, 1975, be removed from the table for further action.
Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and
Mayor McNutt (5) .
Mayor McNutt offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that an
ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF JIMAR PAVING COMPANY, INC. FOR
RESURFACING VARIOUS STREETS IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH , KENTUCKY , AND AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR SUCH RESURFACING", be adopted.
Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley, Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and
Mayor McNutt (5) .
Mayor McNutt offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Brumley, that a
resolution entitled "A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE INTENTIONS OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSION-
ERS REGARDING THE CONTINUATION OF CIVIL SERVICE FOR CITY EMPLOYEES", be adopted.
Adopted on call of the Roll , Yeas , Commissioners Brumley , Coleman , Hornsby, Puryear and
Mayor McNutt (5) .
Mayor McNutt offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Hornsby, that the
resignation of Thomas Dickey as a patrolman in the Police Department of the City of Paducah
be accepted, effective June 9, 1975. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Brumley,
Coleman, Hornsby, Puryear and Mayor McNutt (5) .
On motion the meeting adjourned.
